Countries That Have Legalised Same-Sex Marriage

Today was an important day for the LGBTQ community in India as the Supreme Court of India had to give its verdict on same-sex marriage in the country.

However, the Supreme Court ruled against legalising same- sex marriage. Nevertheless, the apex court has asked the Centre to ensure the rights of the queer community.

But did you know that more than thirty countries around the world have legalised same-sex marriage?

The Netherlands paved the way as the first country to do so in 2001, and since then, several other nations have followed suit

While in North and South America, most of Europe, and Oceania, same-sex marriage is legal, in Africa and Asia, only two countries support it: South Africa and Taiwan.
