Iceland is the world's most peaceful country for the fifteenth time
The list of the world's most peaceful countries was recently released by the 2023 Global Peace Index (GPI).
The GPI uses 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from reputable sources and gauges the state of peace across three domains: the level of societal safety and security; the extent of ongoing domestic and international conflict; and the degree of militarization.
The average level of world peace declined by 0.42% over the previous year, with 79 nations seeing a decline in peace and 84 countries experiencing an improvement.
Since 2008, Iceland has been rated as the most peaceful nation
India improved its overall peacefulness by 3.5% and now ranks 126th in the world
With the average country score declining by 5%, the world has grown less peaceful over the previous 15 years.
