Karwa Chauth is a very grand festival observed by married Hindu women across the country. On this festival, married women observe a strict fast from sunrise till moonrise. This fast is observed for the longevity and well- being of their husbands. According to the Drik Panchang, Karwa Chauth is observed on Chaturthi Tithi which is the fourth day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. This year, Karwa Chauth will be observed on Thursday, 13th October 2022.

Karwa Chauth festival is celebrated with great fervor and zeal all over the country. Grand celebrations are being organised at this festival. All Hindu and Indian women observe this strict Nirjala fast for their husband's long life and they do not eat anything for the entire day. Karwa Chauth Fasting is very unique as nowhere in the world, a woman goes without eating or drinking throughout the day to pray for the longevity of her husband.

Karwa Chauth 2022 Importance

 Married women worship Chauth Mata, Gauri Mata and offer prayers to Goddess for the well-being of their husbands and seek blessings from Chauth Mata. Karwa refers to the earthen pot through which the water is offered to the Moon. The water offering to the Moon is known as Arghya. All married women break their fast only after offering Arghya to Moon.  The tradition of applying Mehandi or henna is a main and important part of Karwa Chauth. In the Hindu culture, Mehandi is a symbolic of good fortune for married women. Women apply Mehandi on their hands and feet on this special day of Karwa Chauth.
