Lunar Pioneers: The Countries That Have Successfully Soft Landed on the Moon

July 14 will be etched in golden letters for India's space sector as the third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, embarked on its journey today.

If successful, India will join the three countries that have achieved a soft landing on the Moon.

So, which three countries have achieved a soft landing on the Moon?

To date, only Russia, China, and the US have successfully made a soft landing on the Moon.

The aim of Chandryaan-3 is to successfully carry out a soft landing near the Moon's south pole and deploy the rover for scientific exploration for a period of one lunar day or 14 Earth days.

Chandrayaan-3 will complete the 384,000-kilometer-long journey in approximately 45 days to attempt a soft landing on the Moon by the end of August.
