Kohli's century against Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthpuram took him past Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the most number of centuries at home. This was Kohli's 21st century in India, while Sachin managed 20 in his career.

Not many players have shown this level of dominance against a particular opponent as Kohli has against Sri Lanka. It was his 10th ODI century against Sri Lanka. Sachin holds the record for scoring nine hundreds Yersus Australia.

Kohli was adjudged as Player of the Match for a record seventh time against Sri Lanka. He broke the record of six PoTM awards jointly held by Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.
