Humane, a firm founded by ex-Apple employees, has raised $100 million. Humane also announced a partnership with OpenAI, the producer of AI solutions such as ChatGPT.
Humane Inc, a business created by former Apple Inc workers, announced a $100 million funding round and plans to launch its first products this spring.
Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno formed the firm in 2018, and it has already funded $241 million. But, the company has yet to reveal what it is working on, stating only that it is a “software platform and consumer device developed from the bottom up for artificial intelligence.”
According to a corporate video and patent filings, a wearable gadget would display information into the actual environment and allow users to modify it with their hands.
Humane also stated that it is working with OpenAI, the producer of artificial intelligence technologies such as ChatGPT, which can generate human-like conversational prose, and Dall-E, which can make pictures, to incorporate OpenAI’s technology into Humane’s gadget.
According to the firm, Sam Altman, the creator of OpenAI and a former Humane investor, took part in the investment round on Wednesday.
Humane further stated that Microsoft Corp, which has developed a vast cloud computer infrastructure exclusively for AI, participated in the fundraising round.
Humane stated that it will collaborate with Microsoft’s cloud to put its software services platform to market.
Humane also stated that it is collaborating with Korean electronics behemoth LG Electronics Inc on “potential (research and development) projects for the next phase of Humane products,” as well as with Volvo Cars’ Tech Fund on “a potential future collaboration that would be the first instance of Humane’s contribution being useful to the automobile industry.”
