Manufacturing capacity of 7,400 MW is expected to be active by Oct this year, whereas 16,800 MW by April next year in 2025, and the rest 15,400 MW by April 2026.
The bids for the selection of solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers for building up production capabilities under the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Programme were won by Reliance Industries Ltd, Tata Power Company Ltd, and JSW Energy Ltd. (Tranche-II).
On March 28, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) revealed the winners, who will get a total of Rs 13,937.575 crore for establishing 39.6 giga tonnes (GW) under the PLI Scheme’s second phase. This tranche seeks to assist in the establishment of a 65GW per year production capacity for completely and partially integrated solar PV modules. It is estimated to bring in Rs 93,041 crore in investment and create 1,01,487 jobs.
Tranche-I of the Project awarded a total integrated capacity of 8,737 MW in November-December 2022.
The entire domestic solar PV module production capacity authorised under the PLI Scheme is 48,337 MW, with the government providing a total assistance of more than Rs. 18,500 crore. SECI solicited online bids from solar PV module manufacturers in three categories: PWCM, ingots-wafers-cells-module (WCM), and cells-modules (CM).
PLI sums of Rs 3,300 crore, Rs 3098.04 crore, and Rs 1,177.573.71 crore will be given to Indosol Solar Private Limited, Reliance New Solar Energy Limited, and India Solar Ventures Private Limited, respectively.
Waaree Energies Ltd, Avaada Ventures Private Limited, ReNew Solar (Shakti Four) Private Limited, JSW Renewable Technologies Limited, and Grew Energy Private Ltd will construct a total capacity of 16,800 MW in the WCM basket, with half of that capacity eligible for PLI.
AMPIN Solar One Private Limited, Tata Power Solar Limited, andVikram Solar Limited are constructing a total of 7,400 MW in the CM basket.
