You can now make UPI payments even without internet connection; Here’s how

You can now make UPI payments even if you don’t have an internet connection, with the help of  *99#, a USSD-based  mobile banking service. This will ensure that your online transactions are never interrupted.

Have you ever been in the midst of an online transaction using Google Pay, Paytm, PhonePe, or any other UPI payment service, when suddenly your internet connection gets disconnected? The solution to your mobile banking needs may lie in *99#, a USSD-based service. A new service has been introduced that allows users to send and request money, change their UPI PIN, and check their account balance without the need for an internet connection.

Accessible banking services are now available to people across India through *99#. This service is provided by 83 top banks and 4 telecom service providers, and can be accessed in 13 different languages, including Hindi and English. Learn how to set up and conduct offline UPI payments.

To enable offline UPI payments, users can simply dial *99# on their smartphone or feature phone, using the phone number that is linked to their bank account. Users are prompted to select their preferred language and input the name of their bank. Upon accessing the system, a comprehensive list of bank accounts associated with your phone number will be displayed. Simply choose the desired account by selecting the appropriate option. The user was prompted to provide the last 6 digits of their debit card and its expiry date.

With *99# set up, users can now make UPI payments even without an internet connection. To send money, simply dial *99# on your phone and select option 1. To send money, select your preferred option and provide the UPI ID, phone number, or bank account number of the recipient.

Next, the user is prompted to enter the desired amount and their UPI PIN. Upon completion of the process, payment will be processed and a nominal fee of up to Rs. 0.50 per transaction will be charged for utilizing the *99# service. As of now, the maximum transaction limit for this service stands at Rs. 5,000.

With these easy-to-follow steps, UPI payments can now be made without an internet connection, providing users with a sense of security and guaranteeing uninterrupted transactions.
