Gautam Gambhir Slams Sledgers Over Spirit Of Game After Bairstow Controversy

The Australians have taken a comfortable lead of 2-0 in the ongoing 5-match Ashes series against England after winning the second test match by 43 runs. The match was played at the Lord’s and the England skipper Ben Stokes produced a superb knock of 155 runs but it went waste as the whole English team got bundled out for 327 runs in their second innings while chasing the target of 371 runs.

However, one incident that has stolen all the limelight is the dismissal of Jonny Bairstow who was given run out on the bowling of Cameron Green.

What made this dismissal controversial was the manner in which Jonny Bairstow got run-out, Cameron Green bowled a short delivery which was left by Bairstow and it went straight in the hands of wicketkeeper Alex Carey. After leaving the bowl, Bairstow thought the ball was dead and he went to have a chat with his batting partner but Alex Carey saw him going out of the crease and he threw the ball on the stumps.

Jonny Bairstow (10 runs) was given out after which the spectators started booing the Aussies by shouting, “same old Aussies, always cheating”.

The former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has also reacted on this issue and he seems to be pretty upset as he called the England cricketers and fans sledgers. He tweeted, “Hey sledgers…. does spirit of the game logic apply to u or is it just for Indians?”

What is your take on this incident? Do let us know.
