Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani will be hitting theatres on 28 July and we will also get to witness the wonderful acting of some veteran stars such as Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan have done some movies together in their younger days and Guddi was one of them. In fact, Guddi was the debut movie of Jaya Bachchan and Dharmendra played himself in the film. In an old episode of Koffee with Karan, Jaya Bachchan revealed that she had a crush on Dharmendra and she used to hide behind the sofa when Dharmendra used to come on the sets as she had no idea what to do. She added that she still remembers he was wearing white shirt and trousers of the same color and was looking like a Greek God. Jaya Bachchan also said that she should have played the character of Basanti in Sholay as she was in love with Dharmendra.
Recently when Dharmendra is asked whether it is true that Jaya Bachchan used to hide behind the sofa, he accepted that it is true and said, “This is her love and respect speaking. I’ve known Jaya and Amitabh for a very long time now. I still remember the fun times that we had while shooting for Sholay.”
While talking about his experience of working with Karan Johar for the first time, Dharmendra stated, “Jo bhi hone ko hota hai, woh sahi samay pe hota hai (Whatever is destined to happen, will happen at the right time). I was destined to work with Karan now. I must tell you, he is such a kind, affectionate, warm and thoughtful boy. He looked after me like his own father. I felt very comfortable working with Karan.”
