You can protect yourself from bluetooth tracking with Google’s unknown tracker alerts; Know how

Google has introduced the “unknown tracker alerts” function to Android 6.0+ users, detecting unidentified Bluetooth devices and alerting them when they are traveling with them. Users can access additional information, a map, and play sound to locate the tracker.

According to a recent announcement made by Google at its annual Google I/O developer conference, the “unknown tracker alerts” function has begun to be made available to Android 6.0+ users. By alerting them whenever an unidentified Bluetooth device is found traveling with them, this function shields customers from unwanted Bluetooth tracking.

In order for the capability to function, an Android user must be travelling alongside an unidentified Bluetooth tracker that has been detached from its owner. The user will be alerted, for instance, if someone is following them around with an Apple AirTag or similar Bluetooth tracking device.

Users may touch on the alert after getting it to get additional information about the tracker and see a map of its travels next to them. Additionally, they have the choice to touch “Play sound,” which will cause the tracker to make noise and enable the user to find it covertly.

Apple AirTags are now compatible with the unknown tracker alerts. The platform does plan to work with additional tag makers in the future to provide this security to other tracking tags while adhering to shared industry standards.

Users of the service may also do a “manual scan” to look for nearby trackers that have become separated from their owners. Users may start a 10-second manual scan by going to Settings > Safety & Emergency > Unknown Tracker alerts and selecting the “Scan Now” button. A list of trackers that are currently nearby and not linked to their owner’s device will appear in the search results.

The tech behemoth stated that consumers will learn about the unidentified Bluetooth monitors and given advice on what to do in the event of an alarm. It’s crucial to be aware that when placed close to the back of a phone, certain Bluetooth trackers may transmit their serial numbers or limited owner information.

Conclusion:-

Google has introduced the “unknown tracker alerts” function to Android 6.0+ users, allowing them to be alerted when an unidentified Bluetooth device is found with them. This function protects users from unwanted tracking by detecting unidentified devices that have been detached from their owners. Users can access additional information about the tracker, see a map of its travels, and play sound to find it covertly. Apple AirTags are now compatible with the unknown tracker alerts, and the platform plans to work with other tag makers to provide security. Users can also perform a manual scan to locate nearby trackers separated from their owners.
