Elon Musk’s plan to remove Block feature from Twitter (X) sparks mixed reactions

Elon Musk will remove the “Block” feature from X, causing frustration among users. The decision, which excludes direct messages, was prompted by concerns about widespread blocking campaigns targeting Twitter Blue subscribers.

Owner of X (previously Twitter), Elon Musk, has made a big modification that has elicited conflicting responses from users. He said that the platform’s “Block” feature, which lets users stop other people from seeing, following, and engaging with their profiles, will be eliminated. Many users have expressed frustration with this adjustment, which excludes the feature’s availability in direct messages (DMs).

Musk announced his decision to remove the Block tool from the platform’s functions in a Twitter conversation with a follower. He continued by expressing his opinion that the decision is absurd, which further heated up the argument.

Musk argued in favor of eliminating the Block function in June and recommended replacing it with a more capable version of the “Mute” feature. His worries about widespread blocking campaigns, particularly those directed towards Twitter Blue subscribers, were the inspiration for this approach.

While Musk and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey appear to embrace this shift, a sizable portion of users object. Dorsey had previously backed the notion of a “100 Percent mute only” system. The Block function is considered by many to be crucial for upholding online safety. They contend that it’s essential in halting abuse, harassment, and the dissemination of bad information.

One user expressed worry about the effect on women’s safety, claiming that abusers might continue to monitor and follow their victims in the absence of the Block tool. Another user emphasized the importance of managing their platform experience, particularly in light of the frequency of spammers and trolls.

Notably, the Block feature’s significance in shielding consumers from unfavorable encounters was recognized by the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account. Many users shared this concern, saying they were concerned that taking away the Block tool may encourage more inappropriate activity on the network.

Conclusion:-

Elon Musk will eliminate X’s “Block” function, which lets users stop others from seeing, following, and communicating with their accounts. This decision has angered users and been called stupid. Musk and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey favor it, but many users disagree. The Block function is crucial for online safety and preventing abuse, harassment, and the dissemination of harmful information. Some users worry about the impact on women’s safety and the importance of managing their platform experience. The Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account recognizes the Block feature’s importance in shielding users from unfavorable encounters, but many users expressed concerns that removing the feature may encourage more inappropriate activity on the network.
