The Indian track and field athlete, Neeraj Chopra has made the country proud once again by winning a gold medal in the World Athletics Championship which took place in Budapest.
Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal for throwing javelin at the distance of 88.17m and with this, he has become the first Indian to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championship and he is also the second Indian after Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra to hold Olympics and World Athletics Championship titles, simultaneously.
Since Neeraj Chopra has won the gold he has been making news all over social media for one reason or another. Presently, an old video is going viral on the Internet in which Neeraj is seen attending an event and the anchor comes and asks him how Javelin happened.
First Neeraj asked the anchor to ask the question in Hindi and then he said that in his village, people used to play various sports, he didn’t know anything about javelin but when he saw his seniors throwing it, he also started. He added, “This is how all of it started and today I am here in front of you.”
Here is the video which was posted on Reddit –
Soon online users started reacting and many praised him for his humbleness and honesty. One user commented, “I like him so much. He’s truly admirable. He’s hardly in the news and brand endorsements, just concentrating on his sport and his fitness. If there’s anything I want selflessly is for him to conquer more and more. What a champ! Solid!”
Another one wrote, “When you are confident with anything that you do and comfortable with yourself, you are unabashedly yourself and that’s exactly what he is, unabashedly himself”.
He is certainly awesome, what do you say?
