Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricketer, must be a little relieved now after scoring a fifty in the ODI against Australia which was played yesterday at Mohali. Though SKY is the number one batter in T20Is, he wasn’t able to justify his worth in ODIs but the good thing was that despite his string of poor performances, skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid kept supporting him.
India won yesterday’s match by 5 wickets and after the match, Suryakumar Yadav had an interaction with the broadcasters during which he said, “I was dreaming of this type of innings when I started playing this format. Trying to bat deep and finishing the game, unfortunately I couldn’t do it today but I am very happy with the result.”
Talking about his constant failures in ODIs, Suryakumar Yadav said, “I’d been wondering what had been happening for me in this format, the teams and bowlers were the same. I went back and reflected and realized I was probably rushing things a bit so I decided to play slower and take it deep.”
In yesterday’s match, SKY refrained from playing the sweep shot which was a reason behind his dismissal in quite a few innings and yesterday, SKY was a lot calmer and sensible in his batting.
It is really good to see Suryakumar Yadav playing well in ODIs as the World Cup is pretty near now.
