Former Pakistani player shares old video, saying it happened with him every day
The Indian cricket team made Indian fans quite happy by defeating the arch-rivals Pakistan in the match which was played on 14th Oct 2023 but something happened during the match which didn’t go well with many online users.
The match was played at Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad and after getting out when Pakistani batter Mohammad Rizwan was walking towards the dressing room, the crowd shouted religious slogans at him.
This was not liked by many and they took to X to express their resentment but there were many who reminded them that this is the same Rizwan who once read Namaz on the ground after Pakistan defeated India in a match and he is also known for his staunch views regarding his religion.
Now, an old video is going viral in which Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad is asking former Sri Lankan cricketer Tillakaratne Dilshan to convert to Muslim. This is what Ahmed Shehzad said, “If you are a non-Muslim and you turn Muslim, no matter whatever you do in your life, (you will go) straight to heaven.”
What Dilshan said in reply was difficult to understand but Shehzad replied with, “Then be ready for fire”.
The former Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria who is one of the very few non-Muslims who played for Pakistan has shared the same video and said that he has to go through this every day. He tweeted, “Be it the dressing room, the playground or the dining table, this happened to me every day.”
Earlier also, Danish talked about how he was mistreated during his playing days as he was a non-Muslim in the team and the former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar also confirmed these claims by saying that other players and skipper didn’t even like to have food with him.
Well, cricket and religion should be kept separately and this has to be followed by everyone.
