The Indian cricket team headed by Rohit Sharma was certainly a little unlucky to lose the finals of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as it was the table topper in the league phase and it managed to remain unbeaten before the finals.
Rohit Sharma led the team from the front as he gave a good start to his team in almost each match and his captaincy was also praised by the cricket experts. Rohit Sharma was the second highest scorer for team India with 597 runs after Virat Kohli who scored 765 runs in the tournament.
The former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir feels that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should be a part of the Indian squad which will play the T20 World Cup 2024 despite the fact that they haven’t been playing T20Is since the 2022 T20 World Cup Semi-final which India lost to England.
Gambhir has also made it clear that he wants to see Rohit Sharma playing as a captain even though Hardik Pandya has been leading the team in his absence. Gambhir said on the show, “They (Rohit and Kohli) both need to get picked, both should be picked and more importantly, I want to see Rohit Sharma as captain in the T20 World Cup. Yes, Hardik has been captaining in T20Is but I still want to see Rohit as captain in the World Cup. Don’t pick Rohit Sharma just as a batter. Rohit is a phenomenal leader and has proved that with his batting in this ODI World Cup.”
