According to reports a fire official has confirmed that 24 workers were hurt after a chemical facility in Surat, Gujarat, caught fire due to a storage tank explosion. Following an explosion on Wednesday that left 24 workers injured, a fire broke out at a chemical company in Surat, Gujarat, according to officials. Around two in the morning, combustible chemicals that were housed in a big tank burst, causing the chemical facility in the Sachin GIDC industrial area to catch fire, according to Chief Fire Officer Basant Pareek, who is in charge of Surat.
According to him, “at least 24 workers sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital where they are receiving treatment.”
The number of workers inside the plant at the time of the event was not immediately known, he said. Another official stated that the explosion destroyed the whole unit and started a fire in the factory’s three-story structure. He claimed that attempts were being made to contain the fire after more than a dozen fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
