Sam Altman wrote in a memo that he had no ill will toward Ilya Sutskever, Altman’s former co-founder and head scientist. There’s a discussion regarding how Ilya can continue contributing to OpenAI after he leaves the board.

Altman told employees that no customers were lost despite the chaos. He emphasized research and safety investments.

OpenAI board chair Taylor informed staff they are happy that “Sam, Mira, and OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman are back together leading the company and driving it forward”.

Altman was initially fired by the board owing to a lack of confidence in his leadership. Satya Nadella later hired Altman and Brockman to lead advanced AI initiatives.

Altman set a study plan and saw the crisis as an opportunity in his memo. He noted Mira Murati’s involvement in these preparations.
