Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya advised doctors to focus on “Nation first”. Treating patients and promoting India’s history and culture were his priorities.
On Saturday, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya stated doctors should work “Nation first” to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of developing India by 2047. Mandaviya declared at the 28th Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences convocation that only a healthy nation can be rich.
“We should not just treat the patient but serve them,” added he.
The minister commented on the National Medical Commission (NMC) logo’s Dhanvantari imagery, saying, “Indians should be proud of their heritage and culture. Ending slavery mentality requires transformation in people.”
“We have to work for the development of new India by taking inspiration from our history and pride,” remarked.
He said India has enough people and brainpower, and every person must contribute to country building.
Youth must build a new India, said Dr. Mandaviya. Now is the time to serve the nation. India showed “our country can do anything” during COVID-19. The union minister said doctors should value poor and rich lives equally.
Mandaviya remarked that some physicians in our nation give up lakhs of rupees to assist the underprivileged for Rs 50–100.
He stated India is boosting universal health coverage funding under the National Health Policy.
