The team management of Mumbai Indians is getting a lot of flak from their fans after they appointed Hardik Pandya as the new skipper of the team. Hardik Pandya was traded from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal by MI; he replaced Rohit Sharma who led MI from the IPL 2013 and in this duration, he made his team win 5 IPL titles.
Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans to two IPL finals and he also made his team win the IPL 2022 which was their debut season.
Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper of the IPL along with MS Dhoni as they both have 5 IPL titles in their names as skippers so quite obviously, fans of Rohit Sharma didn’t like the manner in which Hitman was removed from captaincy by the team management.
However, the former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar doesn’t agree with fans and he feels that MI has made the correct decision. While speaking on a show, he said, “One should not be thinking sentimentally or emotionally about Rohit Sharma. I think it’s a good move as Hardik Pandya is a proven leader and has had a great run. So, he is your in-form T20 captain and player.”
He further added, “Rohit has been around for a long time. So, it makes a lot of cricketing sense to have somebody like Hardik. I just hope he doesn’t feel the pressure of how the transfer happened and Mumbai Indians backing him so much.”
