This year marks India’s 75th Republic Day, honoring the constitution’s adoption on January 26, 1950, and sovereignty.
Despite severe volatility, the major indices Sensex and Nifty were little moved last week. Stock markets crashed on Tuesday, with the Sensex plunging over 1,000 points due to excessive valuations, foreign portfolio investors bailing out of India, and modest profit booking.

Mahashivratri and Holi are the next stock market vacations on March 8 and 24, respectively.
