The famous director Vidhu Vinod Chopra was making headlines some time back for the beautiful movie, 12th Fail that he made with Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in the lead roles and now his son, Agni Chopra is making waves, not because of movies but for his superb performances in cricket matches at the domestic level.
Agni Dev Chopra, son of Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Anupama Chopra is passionate about cricket and not movies and recently, he smashed five first-class hundreds in the Ranji Trophy for Mizoram. Earlier he used to play for Mumbai at domestic level but his coach suggested him to shift to another team so that he can get more play time as there is a huge competition in the Mumbai circuit.
Recently during an interview, when was asked why he isn’t interested in working in movies, he said “So I have been asked this question from childhood that will you go into movies but I never thought I would ever be in movies. I never thought that, oh, I should get in because my dad makes movies and it will be an easy avenue for me. I was never interested in movies. I mean I love watching movies and have a great time but it was never my passion.”
Agni Dev Chopra hasn’t been bought in the IPL as well and when he was asked a question regarding this, he said, “May be I am not good enough so I wasn’t picked.”
When Agni was asked that some IPL teams are owned by film stars and his father can easily arrange for his entry in the IPL, he said, “For me, I want to be picked for anything based on my pedigree, it shouldn’t be because of anything else. I don’t think my dad would ever pick up the phone and tell anyone just because I told him to. I have to be good enough so that they are calling my dad, rather than my dad calling them. If something like that happened, maybe I will be picked in squad, but surely, would not get to play in the eleven. I don’t want to be in a team where I am picked because of a phone call and then I am not going to play.”
Well, the 25 years old youngster is quite honest and straightforward and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
