WhatsApp Channels has been updated to boost user engagement and compete with other chat apps. Android and iOS users can now share channel content in status updates.

Meta-owned WhatsApp updated its Channels feature to increase user engagement and compete with rival messaging apps. Sharing channel postings in status updates allows users to connect with platform content in new ways.

WhatsApp added four channel-related capabilities, including status update sharing. After testing, Android and iOS now have this update.

WhatsApp’s Android, iOS, and Web/desktop apps’ FAQ page provides straightforward instructions for posting Channel updates on the Status tab. Long-press the post, push the right-facing arrow, go to Forward to, and find Status among regularly contacted persons and recent chats on Android.

Users usually share channel postings in conversations, but this upgrade concentrates on status updates. Users may have had access to the feature before the channel page announced it a few days ago.

It’s expected to be added to WhatsApp Web from mobile platforms. WhatsApp Web users can only share channel postings with groups or contacts, although future updates may modify this.

WhatsApp is also developing an iOS feature to let users choose their preferred contacts for simple call placement. This feature makes calling easier by providing a simple shortcut to call favorite contacts from the calls tab.
