The Indian cricketer Rajat Patidar is the new number 4 batter of the Indian test team in the absence of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul but he hasn’t been able to make an impact with the bat in the last two matches against England.
Rajat Patidar made his debut in the Vizag test match and in the last 4 innings, he has scored only 46 runs. In the Vizag test, he played innings of 32 runs and 9 runs and in the Rajkot test match, he scored 5 and 0 in the first and the second innings, respectively.
There were speculations that he might get dropped from the Ranchi test which has started today but the Indian batting coach, Vikram Rathour has made it clear that they have chosen to stick to Rajat Patidar as two bad games don’t make him a bad player.
Vikram Rathour said, “If KL Rahul comes back, if Virat Kohli comes back… We don’t know when that is going to happen. We have been having a lot of conversations with him [Rajat Patidar]. One thing he has to understand is that this is how this game works. He has been batting really well and scoring a lot of runs to get into the team. Two poor games don’t make him a bad player. He just had two tough games, a couple of awkward dismissals, which can happen to anyone. There is absolutely no doubt that he is a good player. On his day, he will come up with an impactful innings.”
We also feel that Rathour is completely right as just two games are pretty less for a player to prove himself.
