Rinky Chakma, Femina Miss India Tripura 2017, died at 29 after a heroic battle with cancer. She had surgery to remove her breast cancer in 2022. Despite chemotherapy, the cancer migrated to her lungs and brain, forming a tumor. Her health weakened, and she could not continue chemotherapy despite her bravery. The pageant’s Instagram account acknowledged her death, praising her grace and determination.

A 2022 diagnosis of rare breast cancer Malignant Phyllodes Tumour transformed Rinky’s life. She had treatment after tumor excision. Her cancer spread to her brain. As her health declined, chemotherapy proved impractical. She was ventilated in the Intensive Care Unit at Max Hospital Saket on February 22.
Rinky recently requested medical funding on Instagram. Her close friend and Femina Miss India 2017 runner-up Priyanka Kumari posted Rinky’s medical records on social media to gather funds for her treatment. She said, “Hi, we are raising funds for our friend Rinky Chakma. Her family had drained all cash due to her two-year cancer battle. She was operated on for breast cancer, but it spread to her lungs and brain. She received chemo at Aiims, Delhi. She was dismissed till her health improved since she could no longer tolerate chemo.
Rinky Chakma debuted in pageants after winning Miss India Tripura 2017. She won Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose as Miss India finalist. Manushi Chhillar won Miss World and Miss India World that year.
