This Friday featured the release of Vikas Bahl’s Hindi version of the Gujarati film Vash, and here’s how audiences reacted.
Ajay Devgn, Jyothika, and R Madhavan in the key characters in Vikas Bahl’s horror flick Shaitaan debuted on theatres on Friday. The movie is a remake of the Gujarati film Vash, in which Janki Bodiwala also appears. Here’s what movie enthusiasts thought, from applauding the performances to believing it might have been more successful.
The scary thriller
On X, a fan suggested the movie to those who enjoy thrillers, stating, “#Shaitaan – A Highly engaging Seat Edge thriller.” For fans of thrillers, suggest. What a wonderful Madhavan performance. Another admirer said, “#Shaitaan is the thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seats,” suggesting that viewers avoid seeing the teaser before seeing the movie. There is almost ever a dull time in the movie because of the dramatic situations that are made. Janki and Maddy are amazing. If you haven’t seen the trailer before, do not.
Amazing first half, average second half
According to one viewer, the movie had not a “single dull moment.” “Shaitaan = outstanding,” they wrote. A thrilling thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, #Shaitaan is a treat for horror fans. The entire film is filled with engaging moments. What an incredible performance by @ajaydevgn and @ActorMadhavan for #ShaitaanReview.
Another individual felt that although the premise was really interesting, the conclusion was disappointing. “Above Average second half after a superb first half. Climax in template format is a disappointment. Despite the story taking place in a single area, the screenplay was really captivating. #Madhavan had a fantastic portrayal as the villain. Very nicely done, AjayDevgn, Jyothika, and the children. Good BGM and graphics. Overall, it was a good suspenseful thriller, they wrote.
“In the climax I was getting killed by heart attack by none other than my #Superstar @ajaydevgn as I thought he became #Shaitaan himself but he saved me towards the end as he is a saviour, I came out with a broad smile,” wrote a fan who disagreed and thought the finale was suspenseful.
The movie has been shaped down, but it has ability
“#Shaitaan Review: Film had so much potential but U/A k chakkar mai, bohot tone-down rakha hai horror,” wrote a fan, who felt the filmmakers might have done better to heighten the horror components. (To preserve the movie U/A, they lessened the terror) @imjankibodiwala & @ActorMadhavan Bravo for an eerie performance. The struggle of Black Magic and the family to escape it made up for the poor action at the conclusion.
