Hardik Pandya, the newly-appointed skipper of Mumbai Indians once again got booed by their home crowd as yesterday MI suffered their fourth loss in six matches.
The match was played between MI and CSK and the Chennai team won it by 20 runs. Hardik first got booed when he went for the toss and then he got booed when MS Dhoni smashed Hardik for three sixes on consecutive three deliveries.
While talking to a sports portal, the former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist shed his opinion on why MI fans are so hostile towards Hardik Pandya. He said, “High-profile teams are a victim of their own success. There are often trades that come out of the blue, and fans feel like, ‘hand on, we are not invested in this’. They feel that they are part of this big picture and hence feel blindsided. The way this Hardik traded came out of nowhere and the transition from Rohit to Hardik…whether Rohit was happy or not or if he was considered or not. So that is where this feeling is coming.”
Has Adam Gilchrist analysed the situation correctly? What do you think?
