The IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore is almost out of the race of the play-offs as yesterday it lost their sixth match of the tournament which it played against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

SRH put up a great show as it scored the highest total of the IPL (287/3) and broke its own record of 277/3 which it scored against Mumbai Indians. Though RCB also put up a great fight and ended up with its own highest total (262/7), still it fell short of the target.

RCB had made some changes in this match as Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj were rested but still the team had a bad day on the field.

The Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell revealed in the press conference that he himself asked the skipper and the management to give him a break and it was not a difficult decision for them considering the fact that Glenn Maxwell has failed to make any impact with the bat.

Glenn Maxwell stated, “After the first few games hadn’t gone to plan personally for me, it was a pretty easy decision. I went to Faf and the coaches last game and said it was time to probably try someone else. I have been in this situation before, where you can keep playing and dig yourself into a hole. Now is actually the best time to give myself a mental and physical break.”

He further said, “With our results this year, it was quite an easy decision. We haven’t been playing as well as we would have liked as a team and the results show that. My personal results have reflected the results we have had. I felt like I wasn’t contributing in a positive way and it felt like, with the position we find ourselves at the table, to give someone else the opportunity to try their wares and hopefully, someone can make the spot their own.”

In the six matches that Maxwell has played, he has got out for duck in three matches and in the other three innings, he has scored – 3, 28 and 1.

What do you think, when RCB will win the IPL trophy?
