Since the film narrates the story of two eras, historical and current, the filmmakers shot it in several real locations throughout the globe. To preserve the uniqueness and premise of the movie, the directors spent sixty days filming a large chunk of it, including the fight sequences, in Sri Lanka. The movie was also filmed in Goa, Europe, and other far-off places. Promising to be a 350 crore movie, the makers filmed a number of key sequences in Chennai’s suburbs and Pondicherry. Recently, Suriya shot a pivotal sequence in Kerala and the Kodaikanal.
