Suryakumar Lauds His Boys, Says “Showed A Lot Of Character In Tough Situations”

The Indian cricket team led by Suryakumar Yadav has taken the lead of 2-0 in the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka after winning the 2nd T20I by 7 wickets. The match was played yesterday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy, Sri Lanka.

It was a rain affected game and India was given a revised target of 78 runs in 8 overs as per the DLS method, earlier Sri Lanka scored 161/9 with the help of Kusal Perera’s brilliant knock of 53 runs.
The Indian team chased the target successfully in 6.3 overs as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Suryakumar Yadav, Jaiswal played blistering knocks of 30 runs and 26 runs, respectively.
In the post-match presentation, SKY praised his players and said that they want to follow the same template irrespective on the situation. In his words, “We spoke about this before the start of the tournament – what brand of cricket we want to play. This is the template we want to go ahead with.”

He further added, “With the weather around, anything below 160 would have been nice. Rain helped us.”
When SKY was asked whether India will try their bench strength as the series is already in their pocket, he said, “The way the boys batted was wonderful. We’ll sit and decide. Very happy for the boys. Showed a lot of character in tough situations.”
The third and the final T20I will be played tomorrow (30 July) at the same venue.
