Rhea Chakraborty recently opened up about her harrowing experience of being imprisoned following the tragic death of her ex-boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020. Reflecting on that difficult time, she highlighted the crucial support she received from her friends, who not only helped her cope but also took care of her parents while she and her brother were in Byculla jail.
Rhea shared a surprising anecdote from the time of her release. She noticed that her parents and friends had gained weight, which puzzled her. When she asked them about it, she discovered that her friends had regularly visited her parents, sharing meals and drinks with them every night.
She said, “One of my friends – couple friends – they used to drink with my dad and eat food with them every night while we were inside. When I came out, ‘I’m like, why have you gained so much weight? Kameeno, main waha jail mein thi aur tumlog yaha khana khaa rahe ho, weight put on kar rahe ho (I was in jail and you were eating food and putting on weight). They were like, ‘No, dude. We were just trying to make uncle-aunty eat and drink and make them feel a little normal. And I was, like, ‘Oh wow!’”
This gesture of solidarity deeply touched Rhea, leaving her profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of her friends and their efforts to help her family during such a challenging period.
She added, “I was surrounded by superpowers of women. Some of my girlfriends – the way they stood by me – my God! You don’t need anything else – you can have one true friend in life and that’s enough. Shibani (Dandekar) was that for me. The way Shivani stood for me was enough for me to know that the whole world can be against me but I have one friend.”
As of now, it is being said that Rhea Chakraborty is dating the Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath.
