After a brief break from cricket, Rahul Dravid is back in action, rejoining the IPL team Rajasthan Royals as their Head Coach. The former Indian cricket captain recently led the national team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, before stepping down from his role as India’s head coach.
Dravid’s return to Rajasthan Royals marks a reunion with the IPL franchise where he once played and mentored. A video posted by RR’s official X (formerly Twitter) account captured him engaging with the franchise’s non-playing staff. Upon his arrival, he made a lighthearted comment, “So this is where the IPL is won,” showcasing his intention to lead the team with a winning mindset.
The Royals, IPL’s inaugural champions, have shown glimpses of brilliance over the years. However, they have struggled to consistently perform in the knockout stages. Under the leadership of Captain Sanju Samson, the team reached the IPL 2022 final but lost to Gujarat Titans. In 2023, they narrowly missed the playoffs, finishing fifth, before bouncing back in 2024 only to be eliminated by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second eliminator.
With the IPL 2025 mega-auctions approaching, Dravid’s presence is expected to be a game-changer, what do you think?
