Comedian Kunal Kamra has sparked outrage among Kangana Ranaut’s fans after mocking the actress on social media. In a recent post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Kamra sarcastically referred to Kangana as a “psychological thriller” and this comment did not go well with her supporters.
“Kangana is the first actress to become a movie genre. You can make a psychological thriller but Kangana is a psychological thriller. Congratulations queen,” Kamra wrote, taking a dig at the actress amid the controversy surrounding her upcoming film Emergency.

His comment led to a wave of criticism from Kangana’s fans, who labelled the comedian a “failure.” One user responded, “You are that Kunal that doesn’t even require a Ganjawala title to show how high you are,” while others defended the actress by pointing out her accomplishments. Another user highlighted, “Kangana Ranaut’s situation is unfortunate, as she is facing censorship even though she is an MP in the government.” A third fan noted her “remarkable achievement” of being one of the few actresses to win consecutive National Awards for Best Actress.
Kangana’s film Emergency has recently been at the center of controversy. Originally set to release on September 6, the film’s debut was delayed due to pending certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). In addition to certification delays, Emergency has faced boycott calls, particularly from Sikh organizations like the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Akal Takht. These groups have raised concerns about the film’s portrayal of the Sikh community, alleging it attempts to “character assassinate” Sikhs by creating a negative narrative.
However, reports indicate that the CBFC has now granted Emergency a UA certificate after requiring three edits and factual sourcing for certain historical quotes, including remarks made by former U.S. President Richard Nixon and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. These quotes were reportedly considered sensitive and required verification before the film could proceed with its release.
