Viraj Ghelani Reflects on His Role in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan: ‘Worst Experience Ever’

Content creator Viraj Ghelani, who made his acting debut with Govinda Naam Mera alongside Vicky Kaushal, also appeared in a brief role in Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster Jawan. However, in a recent interview, Viraj described his time on the set of the film as the ‘worst experience’ of his career.

“Why did I do it? People were kind enough to watch the film for me, but it was the worst experience I’ve ever had,” Viraj shared during his appearance on a podcast. “They don’t really consider you because they have Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt. The work culture was like, ‘Just stand here and do this,’” he added.

Viraj went on to mention that even his closest friends didn’t watch Jawan, either in theaters or on streaming platforms. “They just said, ‘F**k it,’” he revealed. He also shared how his fiancée attended the film’s premiere hoping to see his scene, but he barely appeared. “I was on screen for only a few seconds, and I looked like a blurry background,” Viraj said.

He expressed disappointment over not getting a proper dialogue in the film. Reflecting on his time on set, he said, “I shot for 10 days during the May heat at Madh Island from 12 PM to 6 PM. But in the final cut, they only used footage from the first day’s half-hour shoot, despite my 15 days of work. They cast creators and influencers just for clout.”

Jawan, released in September 2023, featured Shah Rukh Khan in a high-octane action role, directed by Atlee. The film also starred Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, and Ridhi Dogra in key roles.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in his next film King, which is rumored to feature his daughter Suhana Khan and Munjya star Abhay Verma. At the Locarno Film Festival, SRK discussed King for the first time, describing it as an action drama. “It’s a Hindi film that’s emotionally driven and action-packed. I’ve wanted to make a film like this for seven or eight years, and Sujoy is the right director for it,” he said.
