Yuzvendra Chahal Shines In County Championship With 9-Wicket Haul

Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal may have been ignored in Duleep Trophy but he delivered an impressive performance in England’s County Championship Division 2, taking nine wickets in a first-class match against Derbyshire at Northampton.

After Northamptonshire were bowled out for 219 in their first innings, Chahal led the bowling attack, securing a five-wicket haul while giving away just 45 runs in 16.3 overs. His standout performance included key dismissals such as Wayne Madsen, who was batting on 47, and Aneurin Donald, among others. Chahal also cleaned up Derbyshire’s tail, restricting them to 165 runs.

In Northamptonshire’s second innings, the team posted 211 runs, setting Derbyshire a target of 265 to win.

Yuzvendra Chahal, along with off-spinner Rob Keogh, dismantled the Derbyshire batting lineup in the final innings. Derbyshire were bowled out for 165, with Keogh taking a five-wicket haul, while Chahal contributed with four wickets, bringing his total to nine wickets across both innings and helping Northamptonshire secure a decisive victory.

Well played Yuzi!
