Virat Kohli On The Edge Of Breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s Record In IND-BAN 2nd Test

Virat Kohli will be back in action for India as they take on Bangladesh in the second and final Test of the series, starting Friday, September 27, at Green Park, Kanpur. After a disappointing performance in the first Test at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where he scored only 6 and 17 runs, Kohli will be eager to deliver a strong performance in this crucial match.

The 35-year-old right-handed batter is just 35 runs away from reaching the monumental milestone of 27,000 runs in international cricket. If he achieves this in Kanpur, he will become the fastest batter to score 27,000 international runs, surpassing legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting. Tendulkar currently holds the record, having reached this milestone in 623 innings. Kohli, with 26,965 runs in 593 innings, is set to break this record during the upcoming Test.

In addition to the 27,000-run milestone, Kohli has another significant record in sight. He is just 129 runs away from joining an elite group of Indian Test cricket legends, including Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar, by scoring 9,000 runs in Test cricket. Kohli has amassed 8,871 runs in 114 Tests since his debut in 2011, and a strong performance in Kanpur could see him add his name to this prestigious list.

Indian Legends in Test Cricket

Sachin Tendulkar: All-time leading Test run-scorer for India with 15,921 runs in 200 matches.

Rahul Dravid: Second on the list with 13,265 runs in 163 matches.

Sunil Gavaskar: The first batter to reach 10,000 Test runs, finishing his career with 10,122 runs in 125 matches.

With the opportunity to make history, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli as he takes the field in Kanpur, eager to lead India to victory and cement his place among the greatest batters in the history of cricket.
