Since its return on September 22, The Great Indian Kapil Show has captivated audiences with its trademark humor and camaraderie. One of the show’s prominent cast members, Krushna Abhishek, recently shared his thoughts with Indianexpress.com about the strong bonds within the cast that have helped the show succeed.
Speaking about his long-standing relationship with Kapil Sharma, Krushna reflected, “It is now with Kapil’s show that people feel we have been working together, but we go way back to Comedy Circus. It has been a lovely experience.” He emphasized how mutual admiration and respect among the cast members have created a supportive environment where everyone’s talents shine.
Krushna Abhishek also discussed Sunil Grover’s much-anticipated return to The Great Indian Kapil Show, saying, “Sunil is a very talented person with a different kind of comedy—subtle and unique. His return has made a huge difference, and we’ve regained his fanbase.”
Regarding the possibility of other fan-favorite cast members like Sumona Chakraborty and Bharti Singh rejoining the show, Krushna jokingly said it was a question for Netflix to answer. He also spoke fondly of his playful dynamic with Archana Puran Singh, noting that she has always taken their jokes in good humor. “We’ve been cracking jokes on her since 2008, both on and off camera. She has never been offended and takes it sportingly,” he shared.
Krushna also touched on the evolution of his iconic characters, Sapna and Mona, pointing out that memorable characters take time to build. “Characters never become hits with just two or three episodes. We need to keep playing them again and again,” he said, explaining how consistency and originality are key to keeping the audience engaged. He credited the initial concept of his character Sapna, inspired by an air hostess, for adding a unique flavor to the show.
