Karan Johar has recently been the subject of attention due to reports suggesting his investment in Swiggy, an online food delivery platform. However, today, he officially addressed the situation through a statement issued by Dharma Productions.
The statement read, “Certain sections of the media are falsely reporting that Mr. Karan Johar has invested in Swiggy, the online food delivery service. These reports are untrue. Mr. Johar has not invested in Swiggy.”
This statement dismisses all claims, firmly stating that Karan Johar has no financial involvement with Swiggy.
In contrast, there are reports circulating that other Bollywood personalities like Madhuri Dixit and Amitabh Bachchan may have invested in Swiggy, though nothing has been confirmed so far.
Swiggy, on the other hand, is preparing for a significant Initial Public Offering (IPO), with an expected target of raising $1.4 billion (approximately Rs 11,664 crore). Initially, the company aimed to raise Rs 3,750 crore (around $450 million) through a fresh issue. However, the size of the fresh issue has now been revised to Rs 5,000 crore (about $600 million), marking an increase of Rs 1,250 crore or $150 million, which highlights Swiggy’s aggressive fundraising strategy in a competitive market.
While the Swiggy rumors have been debunked, Karan Johar’s career continues to thrive. Following in the footsteps of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar is reportedly set to make his directorial debut on Netflix with a big-budget web series.
Having established himself through films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name Is Khan, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, fans are eager to see how he brings his talent to the OTT platform.
