Govinda Opens Up On Accidental Shooting Incident After Hospital Discharg

A press conference was called soon after Bollywood actor Govinda got discharged from hospital and at that time, the actor shared details of the accidental shooting incident that occurred on October 1. Recounting the unexpected turn of events, he said, “Initially, I couldn’t believe it had happened. Thoda gehra lag gaya tha, jab laga tab vishwas nahi hua. Aisa laga ke yeh kya hua? (It is a deep wound, and I couldn’t believe it had happened. I thought, ‘What just occurred?’).”

The incident took place between 4:45-5:00 am, as Govinda was preparing to leave for a show in Kolkata. The actor explained, “I was getting ready to leave… It was around 4:45-5:00 am. Woh giri aur chal padi (the revolver fell and misfired). I felt a jhatka (shock), and then I saw… there was a fountain (of blood).”

Despite the severity of the incident, Govinda chose to manage the situation on his own without alarming anyone. “I thought I should not associate this incident with anyone else and trouble them,” he shared. The actor calmly documented the situation, shooting videos before rushing to Dr. Agarwal, who accompanied him to Criti Care Hospital for immediate treatment.

When questioned about why he had a loaded revolver at hand, Govinda attributed it to his carefree nature. “Main thoda sa mast raha karta hoon (I’m a bit careless/carefree by nature), so I didn’t think anything was wrong. I’m sahaj (easy-going), I didn’t expect something like this to happen. But one should be careful. I hope no one else has to experience this; they can learn from what happened to me.”

Govinda reflected on the incident with a philosophical take, tying it to the nature of fame and success. “Fame is a flame, and you have to be aware of the flame that surrounds you, all over the world. It’s like fire when you’re successful, and you must tread carefully. When you have many people who love you, there are also some who are jealous—it’s part of spardha (competition).” He urged that no one link the incident to others or create any “galatfehmi” (misconceptions) around it.

Hopefully he will recover soon.
