Jr. NTR Says Audiences Are Responsible For Underperformance Of Devara

Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara: Part 1 stars Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor and the film has performed well commercially, grossing an impressive Rs 466 crore worldwide. This was highly expected as Jr NTR’s return to the big screen after his blockbuster success in RRR. Despite the strong financial results, however, Devara hasn’t made the cultural or critical impact many expected.

Although Devara succeeded at the box office, the film has received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. These reactions seem to have affected Jr NTR, who recently expressed his thoughts in an interview. According to India Today, the actor is disappointed by how films are being judged today. He pointed out that the audience’s approach to watching movies has shifted, becoming more judgmental and analytical, which he feels is impacting the enjoyment of cinema.

Jr NTR explained, “We, as an audience, have become very negative these days. We are not able to enjoy a film in an innocent manner anymore.” He drew a comparison between adults and children, noting that his own children watch movies purely for entertainment, without overthinking or analyzing.

The actor believes that the rise in exposure to different forms of cinema has led to this trend of critical analysis. “Maybe our exposure to cinema has made us like this,” he said. He further speculated that the audience’s relationship with cinema is part of an evolving cycle and expressed hope that viewers would eventually return to enjoying films with a carefree, innocent mindset, rather than constantly analyzing them.

Do you agree with Jr. NTR?
