The Mumbai Police has heightened security for stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui following a serious security threat from members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The threat emerged after an alleged attempt by the gang to target Munawar Faruqui at a Delhi hotel last month, where gang members reportedly booked a room at the same hotel where the comedian was staying for an event in September.

As a precautionary measure, the Mumbai Police increased security around Munawar Faruqui, according to a report by a leading portal, citing police officials. The heightened vigilance follows a series of violent incidents involving the Bishnoi gang, including the recent killing of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique.

Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son’s office in Mumbai by three men, two of whom have been arrested. The assailants claimed ties to the Bishnoi gang, whose leader, Lawrence Bishnoi, is currently imprisoned in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. In an unverified social media post, the Bishnoi gang took responsibility for Siddique’s murder and issued a direct threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, a close associate of the late NCP leader.

Khan has been the target of multiple threats from the Bishnoi gang in the past. The killing of baba Siddique comes just months after an assassination attempt on Khan, when two shooters fired shots outside his Bandra residence, Galaxy Apartments, on April 14. The attackers were later apprehended in Gujarat, and the Mumbai Police, in a charge sheet, linked the shooters to Lawrence Bishnoi.
