Tabu Talks About Her Sister’s Role In Inspiring Her To Take Up Acting As Career

Tabu, widely recognized as one of the most accomplished actresses in Indian cinema, celebrates her 53rd birthday today. Over the years, she has won critical acclaim for her powerful performances in films such as Life of Pi, Haider, and Drishyam. Interestingly, Tabu credits her sister, Farah Naaz, for inspiring her entry into the film industry.

In an interview, she shared how Farah’s success as a Bollywood star motivated her to pursue acting. Tabu fondly recalled her time in Hyderabad, where she stayed with her aunt for three years and cherished her school life. During that period, Farah was already a recognized name in Bollywood, which influenced Tabu’s growing interest in films and her decision to carve out her own acting career.

Tabu’s journey in cinema began with challenges; her debut films did not fare well at the box office. One notable example is Prem, directed by Satish Kaushik and starring Sanjay Kapoor, which took eight years to complete under producer Boney Kapoor but ultimately failed commercially. Despite this initial setback, Tabu’s talent stood out, earning her recognition and setting the stage for future successes. She later established herself as a powerhouse performer with acclaimed roles in Chandni Bar, Hera Pheri, and more, building a substantial fan base over the years.
