The Bollywood classic Karan Arjun and the superhero blockbuster Krrish 3 both have fascinating casting stories involving Ajay Devgn. Director Rakesh Roshan recently shared insights about how Ajay was initially approached for key roles in both films, but turned them down for different reasons.
Before Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan became the iconic duo in Karan Arjun, Rakesh Roshan had initially offered the role of Karan to Ajay Devgn. According to reports, Ajay had agreed to the project but backed out before filming began, citing “personal reasons.” Following Ajay’s exit, Salman Khan was brought on board, completing the pairing with Shah Rukh, and the film went on to become a cult classic.
Years later, Rakesh Roshan considered Ajay Devgn again, this time for Krrish 3. However, the role wasn’t of the titular superhero but the film’s antagonist, Kaal. In an interview, Rakesh revealed that Ajay declined the part, stating that as a hero he won’t prefer to get killed by another hero. The role eventually went to Vivek Oberoi, who delivered a memorable performance as the menacing Kaal.
Rakesh Roshan is currently busy with the re-release of Karan Arjun which is going to take place on 22 Nov.
