Virat Kohli Gets Backed By Brett Lee Amid Batting Slump

Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has expressed unwavering support for Indian batting stalwart Virat Kohli, who is facing criticism for a lean patch with the bat. Kohli, who has managed just 250 runs from six Tests in 2024, including only one half-century in the last five Tests, has been under public scrutiny.

Speaking to Fox Cricket, Lee dismissed concerns over Kohli’s form and highlighted the batter’s resilience and competitive spirit.

“He’s got an Australian mentality, a never-say-die attitude. He doesn’t mind getting into a scrap. He doesn’t mind having a crack,” Lee remarked, emphasizing Kohli’s mental toughness and ability to overcome challenges.

Brett Lee acknowledged Virat Kohli’s modest performance in the recent series against New Zealand, where he scored only 90 runs across three Tests. However, the former pacer downplayed the statistics, expressing confidence in Kohli’s ability to perform well in Australia, a country where he boasts an impressive record.

“There has been a lot of conjecture around his form recently, but I’m not worried about that. I know with Kohli, he’s got the experience underneath his belt,” Lee added.

Virat Kohli’s past performances in Australia provide ample evidence of his capability to bounce back. From scoring centuries at key venues like Adelaide and Perth to leading India to a historic Test series win in 2018-19, the star batter has consistently risen to the occasion Down Under.
