Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey shocked his fans and colleagues on Monday with an unexpected announcement of his retirement from films. The news, shared on social media, sparked widespread speculation about whether the decision marks a permanent departure or a temporary hiatus from acting.
Among those reacting to the announcement was Harshvardhan Rane, Vikrant Massey co-star in the 2021 Netflix hit Haseen Dillruba.
Harshvardhan Rane expressed his hope that Massey’s announcement was part of a planned publicity strategy. Drawing a comparison to Aamir Khan’s temporary retirement years ago, Harshvardhan told an entertainment portal:
“He is a man with a clear and centred thought process. I respect his work ethic and look up to his acting process during the shoot of Haseen Dillruba. Hope he gets back to making films like Aamir Khan sir did after a similar announcement. These are great artists, and our country needs their presence in our cinema. I’m praying this is just some PR activity forced on him by some filmmaker.”
Massey’s decision has left fans and the film fraternity eagerly awaiting clarification on his future plans. Many hope the talented actor, known for his versatile roles, will eventually return to the big screen.
