Comedian Munawar Faruqui recently revealed an emotional chapter of his life on a podcast with Janice Sequeira, sharing the harrowing experience of his son Mikael’s diagnosis with Kawasaki disease. The rare condition, which inflames blood vessels and can damage the heart, was diagnosed when Mikael was just one and a half years old.

Recalling the ordeal, Munawar described the financial and emotional challenges he faced during that time. “Three injections were required, each costing Rs 25,000. I needed Rs 75,000 but had only Rs 700-800 in my wallet,” he told a news portal.

Munawar recounted the immense stress of arranging funds for his son’s treatment. “I smiled casually at the doctor, assuring him I’d arrange the money. But as I stepped out, I froze for 30-40 minutes, unable to think. It was the heaviest moment of my life,” he said.

With no savings to rely on, Munawar turned to others for help. He traveled to Mumbai Central, collected the required money, and returned within three hours. Though relieved to secure the funds, he admitted, “I couldn’t smile because it wasn’t my money.” The experience deeply impacted him, motivating him to ensure financial stability for the future.

Munawar Faruqui married Mehzabeen Coatwala earlier this year, marking a fresh chapter in his personal life. He shares Mikael, now six years old, with his former wife Jasmine. Munawar first opened up about his son’s existence during his time on Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp. Since then, he has often shared pictures with Mikael on social media, giving fans a glimpse into their close bond.
