On her 38th birthday, Harshdeep Kaur, fondly known as the “Sufi Ki Sultana”, continues to reign as one of India’s most soulful and versatile playback singers. With her mesmerizing voice, she has carved a niche in Sufi and Bollywood music, captivating millions across the globe.

Born on December 16, 1986, in Delhi, Harshdeep discovered her love for music at a young age. Trained in Indian classical music under Tejpal Singh, she honed her skills in western music as well, bringing a unique fusion to her craft. Her journey to fame began when she won the reality show Junoon – Kuch Kar Dikhane Ka in 2008, earning the title “Sufi Ki Sultana” for her unmatched prowess in the genre.

One of her earliest hits was Ik Onkar from Rang De Basanti, a rendition that showcased her ability to evoke deep spirituality. Over the years, she has delivered chartbusters like Kabira (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Heer (Jab Tak Hai Jaan), and Dilbaro (Raazi), each reflecting her depth and versatility.

Harshdeep is also one of the few Indian artists to perform at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London. Beyond Bollywood, she has contributed to Punjabi music and lent her voice to Coke Studio tracks, making her a global ambassador for Indian music.
