Six people were arrested on Sunday for vandalizing flower pots and other items at the Hyderabad residence of Allu Arjun. The protestors were demanding justice for a woman who died in a stampede during a screening of Pushpa 2. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) described the incident as ‘state-sponsored terrorism’.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy condemned the attack and directed the Director General of Police and the city police commissioner to take strict action to maintain law and order.
According to the police, members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee led the protest. One protester climbed the compound wall of Allu Arjun house and began throwing tomatoes. When security personnel intervened, they were manhandled, and some flower pots were damaged. The protesters also raised slogans and spoke to the media gathered at the gate.
Jubilee Hills Police arrived quickly and arrested six individuals involved in the vandalism. A case was registered against them and others who participated in the attack. The police emphasized that such unlawful behavior will not be tolerated.
The protesters demanded Rs 1 crore in compensation for the deceased woman’s family. They left a placard stating that while crores are earned from films, viewers are losing their lives.
Allu Arjun was not home during the incident. Following the attack, security at his residence has been strengthened.
