The festival of Basant Panchami honors the goddess of education, Lord Saraswati. A temple in Andhra Pradesh presented its deity with many pens on this auspicious day, which was observed on February 3. People offered one lakh pens to Ainavilli Ganpati temple in a special ritual. In Ainavilli, Andhra Pradesh, the Ainavilli Vinayaka temple conducted a three-day ceremony devoted to early childhood education. Children were forced to pray to Goddess Saraswati in front of their parents at these celebrations. Seeking the blessings of the goddess of knowledge and education, they took the slates and wrote for the first time.
At the temple, priests were seen placing pens at Lord Ganesha’s feet; later, youngsters were said to have been upset. It was discovered that during the Basant Panchami ceremonies, up to one lakh pens were donated to the Lord.
Reports state that the temple performs this unique prayer, offering the deity pens on Basant Panchami every year.
