Kane Williamson Surpasses Virat Kohli, Becomes Second Fastest Batter To…..

On Monday, February 10, Kane Williamson, the star New Zealand batter and former captain, played an outstanding knock to lead his team to victory against South Africa in Lahore. His unbeaten century guided New Zealand to successfully chase down a target of 305 runs, securing a 6-wicket win.

Kane Williamson, known as New Zealand’s highest run-scorer in international cricket, faced 113 balls at the crease at Gaddafi Stadium. With the help of 13 boundaries and two sixes, he finished with a remarkable 133 runs.

Kane Williamson’s performance was historic. By hitting the winning runs on the fourth ball of the 49th over, he not only secured the match but also etched his name into the record books. He became the second-fastest player in the world to reach 7,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Achieving this milestone in his 159th innings of his 167th ODI match, the 34-year-old from Tauranga surpassed Virat Kohli’s previous record. Kohli, who has accumulated 13,911 runs in 296 ODIs, had scored his 7,000th run in the 161st innings of his 169th match.

While Williamson’s achievement is remarkable, the record for the fastest player to reach 7,000 ODI runs still belongs to former South African batsman Hashim Amla. Amla reached this milestone in just 150 innings during his 153rd ODI match.
